The Screaming Staircase Review

Hello Reader,
I'm sure most of you must have heard of the latest book by Jonathan Stroud. It's the first book in a brand new series called Lockwood and Co. and since I am a fan of Stroud's Bartimaeus series, I decided to give this one a shot too. Well,I can tell you one thing, this book does not disappoint. So here's what I feel about it:

The Screaming Staircase, like the Bartimaeus series, is set in an alternative London which has been infested by 'the Problem' since around 50 years.Lockwood and Co., comprising of Anthony Lockwood, Lucy Carlyle and George, is the most run down agency trying to get rid of the Visitors (ghosts). But all this changes when they are assigned the case of Mrs. Hope (I won't tell you the Visitors name as it would spoil some of the fun). The book is filled with tummy turning twists and lots of humor which Bartimaeus fans are so fond of. This new interpretation of London is really fascinating and keeps the reader wanting for more. Stroud does a fantastic job by not only setting the characters in modern London but also a London with no cell phones and stuff preventing the heroes from an easy escape. This book definitely gives a whole new meaning to ghost stories. You can find that the characters not only get rid of the Problem but also other problems like age old cases which were never solved.Action, suspense, comedy, this book has it all. What the book does lack is a back story for Lockwood but I'm pretty sure that by the end of the series we would have that too.So, I suggest that anyone who is a fan of mysteries or the paranormal should read this book (You could read it even if you are not a fan of these though).
Happy Reading and if you've already read it then grab another book and tell us what you fell about this one
Till then, Read, Write and Relish!!
